Conventions of Dance music videos

Sigala - Nobody To Love

Most of the video is located in the outdoors in an exotic location, omn a beach, wholst also cutting between scenes in a abandoned building and a car journey. The camera shots vary, contrasting between low shots to see the sun and its rays, ftebn including blurs of the suns rays to emphasis its brightness, and medium to birds eye view, focusing on the luxury and exoticism of the location. 

Throughout the video the two girls are constantly dancing, both in slow motion and at normal speed, so that the video is in time to the same pace of the music whilst also emphasizing their dance moves. During the video the girls have an encounter with what appears to be tribal man, showing the diversity of ethnic groups whilst also exploring the variety of dance moves they have. In this scene, it shows the spiritual aspect that the video holds, which is also hinted throughout the rest of the video. For example there is a close up that focus' on the dream catcher hanging in the window of the car, which also holds a native american aspect as that's where they originated from. Not only this, the dream catcher also follows the idea that the two young girls are following their dreams, as it is believed by American Indians to give its owner good dreams. 

The car itself is a convertible, with the two girls expressing their freedom by not sitting with a seat belt on, yet sitting on top of the seats with their arms in the air fully enjoying the ride. The girls also have sparklers in this scene, and in the scene in the abandoned building, this suggests a dangerous aspect yet also further portrays how they are having fun as they are seen to be fun to use.

Within the video, there is a brief scene of a brown horse, this also emphasizes the spiritual value that the video holds as it symbolizes friendship, loyalty and devotion which is valued throughout the video, when their are various close ups of the two friends holding hands and being close to one another, emphasis the sentimental things that hold a value in their friendship. Not only this, there are also close ups used during dancing scenes, such as close ups of their feet, which helps to stress the rhythm of the music.

Girls dressed in shorts, crop tops and bikinis, always moving and dancing to the beet of the music, this could be linked to the male gaze theory, with medium shots of the girls waist down whilst in slow motion, could be seen as sexual, however their is also a focus on the topless man dancing. Despite this, the two girls don't appear to be dancing in an inappropriate way, they appear to just be having fun.

The video doesn't seem to follow a narrative, however it seems to be just scenes of the girls throughout the day following on to night time, where they are still doing the same thing - dancing and having fun.

Phillip George - Alone No More

Within the music video it cross cuts between two scenes,a scene of a DJ at a nightclub ( where the music is likely to be played ), and following a couple around an exotic resort, on a beach,in a village ,in the sea and on a fair ride. These exotic filming locations portray how the actors within the music video are having the best time with each scene includes close ups of the two, with smiles on their faces, emphasizing their happiness.

To show off the luxury of the location, there are several birds eye view shots to show the setting clearly. There are often medium shots too, to show the setting of the sun in scenes such as when the couple are on the beach together. There are also low angled shots included to show this.

                                

Within the video the couple go on a fair ride, that takes off to the beat f the music. This is particularly effective as it also follows the values that the music video holds of summer time and the couples are having fun. There are point of view shots used to emphasis the effect of the fair ride.

The scenes are fast paced edited together to fit the rhythm of the music.

Sigala - Sweet Lovin

The music video consist of following a young girl around the streets with rollerskating leaving colored smoke behind her. The video doesn't really follow  narrative, however, the girl just skates the streets whilst encountering a diverse variety of people, and is then joined at the end by several others on skates too.

The smoke following the girl is pink, however, towards the end of the video, the girl meets others where they also share the same roller skates, with different coloured smoke coming off it, showing the bright and happy theme,expressing the upbeat vibes that the music and video portrays.

Within the video,the girl meets several people who each express dance or unique skills, for example the girl dancing in a chest stand, and a boy doing a flip. This shows the diversity of people who enjoy the music and what it brings out of people who listen to it,showing that the music brings happiness. There is also a boy on a bike, doing tricks. The use of different activities shows how they are full of energy and young, whilst being wild.

The setting is around the streets of America, and then to an industrial estate, the weather is hot. This is portrayed by he fact that each person within the video is wearing are wearing minimal clothing, dressed for the summer.

The close ups of the skates an the smoke following it helps to show the action that is occurring.

The scenes are fast paced edited together to fit the rhythm of the music, which helps to create a more dramatic effect. However, there are scenes that are in slow motion that also help to create emphasis on the pace of the music.
