As readership habits have changed, both the Daily Mail and the Guardian have websites. This means that less money is spent on the journalism as less money is made through the websites publication, the decline in profits also means that the news is no longer objective nor accountable. In order to make money, both online digital publications have adverts and invite them to subscribe to the online publication, this is a large way in which the online publication differs from the newspaper itself.

Within The Guardians digital publication, the papers political ideology remains the same this can be told through the articles content, which follows the conventions of a broadsheet. Similarly to this, the Mail Online's content is also similar to its printed publication, with stories focusing more on celebrities such as the Kardashians.

The audience for the online publication changes this is because young people or people who have devices, are lots more likely to read the news from a device, because it's easier to access and is free. Also, online newspapers are very good at bringing the big news of the day to the focal point of the website, which means you don’t have to hunt for the things you want to read.
Lastly, people don’t want to spend time fumbling through a print newspaper to find an article when they can search for and find it online in a matter of seconds. The Mail online has 14,068,817 daily unique browsers. This is compared to the circulation of 1,428,541 daily readers/ buyers of the print addition. Looking at these statistics, we can tell that more people access the online publication compared to people who buy the print. The Guardian has the circulation of 146,100 buyers daily, this is compared to readers of their online publication 7,964,892 unique browsers daily. Here we can tell that the difference between the Daily Mail and The Guardian, there's a larger difference between online and print readers, meaning that most of their news is accessed online.
